1. Go For Multi-Functional Furniture

Any piece of furniture you add to your Boho-style bedroom should serve more than one purpose. For example, you can have a bed with built-in drawers that serve two purposes – sleeping and storing your personal items.

A nightstand beside the bed can hold light and serve as a table. The aim is to reduce the amount of furniture and free up space.

2. Make The Best Of Vertical Spaces

Keep your eyes upward to make the best of vertical spaces when giving your small bedroom a boho treat. Utilizing vertical spaces makes the bedroom look taller. Go for a narrow floating bookshelf to store books and display decorative items like art and planters, which brings in the greenery vibe without consuming much surface area.

3. Maximize Light and Reflection

Light and reflection are key factors when giving a small space a boho bedroom vibe. Go for sheer curtains to introduce natural light to your bedroom. Hang large mirrors opposite your window to have reflect light, which makes the room look larger.

4. Avoid Visual Clutter

It’s okay to layer textures in a small space, but don’t clutter things. I prefer linen bedding, a woven rug, and basket wall decor as they add depth and character without overwhelming your space.

I have also seen some women go for natural fabrics like wool, cotton, and velvet for a stunning layered look in their small boho bedroom.

5. Add Minimalist Boho Palette

To spice things up, opt for a minimalist boho palette like neutral wall colors like warm white, pale beige, or cream as a base color. Then add an accent with bold colors like earthy brown to harmonize it with the boho style.

6. Attract Nature

Your boho-style bedroom isn’t complete without bringing nature into it.

Greenery is a boho essential.

Go for space-saving plants like hanging pots or medium-sized floor plants.  Pair with woven baskets made from natural materials like seagrass to ensure an airy, organic look without overwhelming the space.

7. Use Portable Storage Solutions

Some women make the mistake of using large and space-consuming storage solutions when creating a boho bedroom vibe in their small space. Portable ones, like under-bed storage boxes and woven baskets, are ideal. They can store blankets, beddings, not-in-use clothes, books, and other items.

8. Choose Low Furniture With High Legs

Platform bed and a low nightstand are examples of low furniture with high legs that can make the ceiling appear higher. They also allow light and air to flow underneath, which prevents the room from feeling heavy or blocked.

9. Use Rugs To Define Areas

I personally prefer woven rugs when it comes to defining spaces in a boho styled bedroom because it makes it purposeful and organized. A small woven rug slightly placed under the bed can serve as a sleeping zone. Also, a small round jute rug can designate a small reading nook with floor cushions.

10. Hang Boho Lighting

Replace floor or table lamps with delicate boho lights. Opt for hanging lanterns or pendant lights in bamboo or rattan. Not just that, they also save surface space, and they also cast a stunning glow that enhances the boho ambiance, thereby making your bedroom look charming.

And that’s will easy and DIY ideas that can help you transform your small bedroom into a boho styled bedroom without having things look cluttered and unorganized.

These ideas helped me design a boho-style bedroom for my mum, who loves it so much, and I trust they will also help you.
